About us

Hugo Brown is the owner/proprietor of "The Old Pen Shop".

Hugo has always used a fountain pen since his earliest days in school in the late 1960s and early 1970s. From a basic Schools edition of the Parker 45 to a pleathora of Parker Vectors in different colours and designs, plus a faithful bottle of Quink, writing in style has always been Hugo's way. In 1972 he won the Devonshire schools hand writing competition, with his favourite Copperplate style.

Hugo's true love for Parker pens came about by one of his sadest moments, the death of his father in 1996. His father left Hugo, his gold Parker 75, only it was in a bad way, the nib was badly bent and the tassies ends and the arrow clip were severely worn. It was some time later that Hugo decided to fix it, but parts were no longer available, so he turned to the internet and Ebay. Here he found a complete duplicate and set about replacing the damaged parts. The restored pen now takes pride of place in his collection, and the repairing and collecting of pens took hold.

Hugo has now repaired hundred's of pens and his own collection is now substantial.

Ebay has been his major selling zone, but with the Coronavirus Lockdown, Hugo has decided to sell his best pens direct to you and has created this web-site for the purpose. But Hugo wants to share his love of pens with you and what better way than to produce a comprehensive history of the pens he loves. It will take time to populate all the history and to post up all the pens he has for sale, so please keep returning to this site for regular updates.
