Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens
In the 1930s, Parker developed a new method for filling fountain pens. No longer did they require an internal sac, instead they used a rubber valve at the base of the barrel that created a vacuum to pull the ink into the barrel.
This had two advantages:-
1. 50% more ink could be taken into the barrel on filling compared to the button & sac method, &
2. By making the barrel transparent, the user could easily see the ink level in the pen, by simply holding the pen up to the light.
This second advantage gave the opportunity for Parker to make some wonderful new designs for their pens.
Vacumatic Nibs are quite special too. All are 14k gold with an arrow emblem embossed throughtout the nib. The extra special nibs are the same but in two-tone gold.
